A new adventure

Well I’m off again. This time to Argentina, and this time travelling solo. I’m currently sitting on perhaps the least comfortable 14 hour plane journey of my life (I can’t define what makes this chair quite so awful to sit on, but I’ve been trying positions for 7 hours and haven’t yet found a good one) but the good news is it’s preparing me for the several 24+ hour bus journeys I’ll be taking over the next few weeks.

It’s high season in Argentina, which means if I don’t book ahead I miss out. Even booking hostels a couple of months ago I was having to act fast with only a few beds remaining in the best value places. The downside of having everything planned is I lose the spontaneity of not knowing where I’m going next and being able to change plans on a whim - that’s something I’ll miss. The upside though is that I’ve managed to efficiently pack in far more than I would have done travelling freely.

In three weeks I’ll visit Buenos Aires, El Calafate, El Chalten, Bariloche, Córdoba and Iguazu before flying up to Rio de Janeiro to meet 15 or so friends for a couple of weeks of beaches, bars and beautiful music. It’s going to be hard work at times, but I’m ready for adventure. Now just to hope I can get a few hours sleep before a 7am arrival in Buenos Aires!
